Scope of job may include design and development of equipment, qualification, deployment to manufacturing, improving performance and supporting programs to optimize efficiencies while maintaining a safe working environment. Detailed Description Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following: Perform routine, preventative, and predictive maintenance (PM/RCM/TPM) on equipment to minimize unplanned downtime. Execute Real-Time Problem Solving (RTPS) for line downtime and manage line backlog recovery strategies with cross-functional teams. Manage the Repair & Maintenance (RNM) budget for machine maintenance, spare parts replacement, and component obsolescence evaluations. Oversee tool testing, component characterization for New Product Introductions (NPI), and material validations. Maintain and update engineering manuals, safety protocols, spare parts inventory, and tooling. Lead 8D problem-solving initiatives for quality issues and ensure timely reporting and escalation to customers. Partner with Quality teams on weekly internal audits, driving continuous improvement through Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). Review project engineering work with a focus on cost reduction, downtime minimization, yield enhancement, and scrap/kout reduction. Accurately track engineering processes, part usage/discards, repair logs, and root-cause failure analysis. Serve as the primary technical interface for clients: communicate downtime timelines, project status, test results, and service plans. Collaborate with customers to plan major service windows, minimizing production impacts and reducing wait times. Lead and support customer audits, including Gap Assessments, CMQS, and PCL1/PCL2 (for NPI products). Direct engineering staff members, manage vendor relationships, and negotiate work under strict risk management and contract guidelines. Prepare, maintain, and review critical engineering and line documentation, ensuring Engineering Change Requests (ECR) are raised when needed (Control Plans & Process Flow Diagrams, Control Procedures, Process Capability (Cpk) & Control Limits, Gauge R&R (GR&R) & Kappa Studies (Machine & Operator), Machine Calibration, PM Checklists, and Cps Checklists, New NPI Characterization report Knowledge/Skills/Competencies At least 3 years experience as an equipment engineer in manufacturing industry preferrably electronics Physical Demands Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment. Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required. Occasional travel may be required. When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
