Your tasks As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will help shape the tools, environments, and processes that enable our development teams to build high-quality software efficiently. You’ll work closely with the Product Owner and cross-functional teams to design and operate modern development platforms—in the cloud and on-premises . A key part of your role will be supporting developers across diverse technology stacks and ensure scalable and secure service integration. Design and implement development environments and tooling architectures for both on-premises and public cloud (Azure, AWS). Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) templates using Terraform, Bicep, and CloudFormation. Operate and optimize CI/CD pipelines using DevOps and DevSecOps tools (e.g., SonarQube, Nexus Lifecycle, Nexus Repository Manager). Implement and maintain API management platforms such as Apigee, Azure API Management, or Kong, ensuring secure and efficient API lifecycle management. Provide hands-on support to development teams in selecting and using modern engineering tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub, IntelliJ, Visual Studio). Support development workflows in Python and JavaScript, with optional use of C#, Java, or Go. Act as a technical advisor for software engineering best practices, including API design, versioning, and governance. Your profile Broad understanding of modern cloud and security concepts which you have acquired through at least five years of relevant professional experience. Excellent expertise in at least four of the following areas: Software development and architecture Azure Cloud Services (IaC with Terraform, Bicep) and/or AWS Cloud Services (IaC with Terraform, CloudFormation) Programming in Python and JavaScript. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
