Main Tasks & Responsibilities: Collaborate with business and technical teams to gather, analyze and interpret data requirements Translate functional requirements into clear and actionable technical specifications Design, implement and optimize DataHub solutions within Microsoft Azure environments Develop efficient and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory and/or PySpark notebooks Design and implement data models and end-to-end data solutions covering ingestion, transformation, modelling and data delivery Collaborate with technical teams on data architecture, standards and engineering best practices Ensure data quality, security and governance throughout the data solution lifecycle Provide technical guidance and support to junior team members, promoting data engineering best practices Requirements: Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Data Engineering Strong experience with the Microsoft Azure ecosystem, particularly Azure Databricks Experience with distributed data storage technologies, especially Azure Data Lake Storage Strong knowledge of data formats such as Parquet and Delta Lake Experience across the full data solution lifecycle, including data ingestion, transformation, modelling and delivery Proven ability to design scalable and performance-oriented data architectures Experience working with Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical-thinking skills Nice to Have: • Experience with Azure Data Factory • Knowledge of Scala to PySpark migration • Knowledge of Azure Synapse • Experience with Jira and Confluence Other Requirements: • Fluent in English • Ability to simplify complex problems and obtain a workable solution; • Customer focus and service delivery; • Availability to work in EU. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
