Role Description The Accountant at Azure Hotel & Suites will manage day-to-day financial activities, including recording transactions, preparing journal entries, and maintaining accurate ledgers. This full-time, on-site role in Lagos State, Nigeria involves preparing financial reports, assisting with budgeting and forecasts, reconciling bank and balance sheet accounts, and monitoring cash flow. The Accountant will handle accounts payable and receivable, process invoices and payments, and support month-end and year-end closing activities. The role also includes ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards, internal controls, and local regulations, as well as collaborating with operations and management teams to provide financial insights that support hotel performance. Key Responsibilities Maintain accurate financial records for the hotel, including revenue, expenses, and daily cash reconciliations Prepare and post journal entries, manage the general ledger, and perform monthly bank reconciliations Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments to vendors and collections from clients Generate daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports (revenue reports, occupancy vs. revenue analysis, expense tracking) Prepare monthly management accounts, profit & loss statements, and balance sheets Manage payroll processing in coordination with HR Ensure compliance with tax regulations (VAT, WHT, PAYE) and statutory remittances Conduct periodic audits of front office cash handling, F&B revenue, and other departmental transactions Monitor and control hotel operating costs and flag budget variances Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies as required Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers and inventory records Support budgeting and forecasting processes Qualifications Strong foundation in accounting principles, financial reporting, and general ledger management. Proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel, including use of spreadsheets, formulas, and reconciliation tools. Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, budgeting, and cash flow management. Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with non-finance colleagues. Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain organized records in a fast-paced hospitality environment. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., ACA, ACCA) is an advantage.
