*About The Role* Reporting to the VP, Finance and working closely with the Accounting Manager, the Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day fund accounting, accounts payable, and treasury operations for Spira's real estate private equity funds. We value curiosity, accountability, and teamwork, and foster an environment where people can take on challenging work and make a tangible impact. *What You Will Do* * Assist with fund-level accounting, including compiling financial information for various financial statements, posting journal entries, and maintaining receivables and payables for the funds: * Process and code accounts payable invoices across multiple entities, obtaining required approvals and verifying supporting documentation * Apply incoming payments, monitor outstanding receivables, and help maintain accurate records and reconciliations * Support treasury functions, including performing bank reconciliations, setting up wire payments for approval, and ensuring accuracy in cash movements * Assist with the review of quarterly NAV statements, financial statements, and Statements of Partners? Capital Accounts * Support capital calls and distributions, as needed * Reconcile corporate credit card statements and process employee expense reports * Contribute to the interim and annual audits for the funds and properties * Assist with the preparation of corporate tax returns and related filings * Prepare and file GST/HST and QST returns across the funds and corporate entities * Coordinate timely processing of corporate tax installment payments * Prepare annual state and regulatory filings and related payments * Support continuous process improvement efforts, including creating and maintaining documented accounting procedures * Perform other ad hoc duties and special projects as needed *What You Bring* * Bachelor?s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field * Minimum 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience * Exposure to fund accounting, real estate, or private equity considered an asset * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with strong analytical capability and the ability to maintain complex tracking workbooks * Proven ability to reconcile supporting documentation against the general ledger and apply accurate account and expense coding * Highly organized, able to manage competing deadlines * Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a proactive approach to identifying and flagging issues before they escalate * A self-starter, comfortable taking ownership of recurring processes with minimal oversight and adjusting readily as priorities evolve * Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaborating effectively across teams * Discretion and sound judgment when handling confidential financial and investor information *Why Join Spira* At Spira, we invest in our people as much as we invest in our assets.
