If you answered yes to the above questions, we have an exciting opportunity for you to explore as a Park Caretaker. The Assistant Park Caretaker reports directly to the Area/District Supervisor or designate as specified. As the Assistant Park Caretaker, you are responsible for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the designated Day Use Park(s) including: all infrastructure, vehicles, grounds and equipment. Primary Accountabilities You will also be responsible for: Infrastructure maintenance, vehicles, grounds and equipmentEnsuring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations and department policies.Actively participating in the implementation of departmental OH&S Policy and Programs.Providing visitor information.Monitoring park activities for regulation compliance.Advising visitors of park regulations and reporting non-compliance to conservation officers. Qualifications and Experience This could be the right job for you if you have the following skills and experience: Two (2) years of related experience, which can include:General carpentry, building and grounds maintenance, general machine maintenance.Use of tractors, ride-on mowers, push mowers, string trimmers and hand and power tools.Valid NS Class 5 driver's license or equivalent.Valid (Standard) First Aid Certificate and WHMIS training.Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written.Knowledge of cleaning methods and sanitation requirements.Customer service training.Training, experience in or demonstrated ability for ensuring compliance of Regulations in a public setting; andKnowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
