About the role: As a Senior Cloud Data Engineer, you’ll be hands-on across both cloud infrastructure and data engineering, helping shape and deliver our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and analytics capabilities. You’ll design, build, and improve cloud and data solutions that are secure, scalable, and aligned with enterprise standards, while also contributing to the ongoing modernisation of legacy data workloads. This is a practical, delivery-focused role that suits someone with strong engineering judgement who enjoys collaborating across teams, improving standards, and working with modern cloud and data technologies. Key responsibilities: Contribute to the design and evolution of the GCP cloud platform and data engineering architecture. Collaborate with Public Cloud, Architecture, and Cybersecurity teams to design and deliver infrastructure, data platform, and access-related changes. Help define, uplift, and embed engineering standards across infrastructure, data pipelines, data models, and development practices. Design, build, and maintain GCP infrastructure including IAM, resource hierarchy, networking, and environments using Terraform or similar IaC tools. Design, build, and maintain data transformation pipelines and analytical data models using Dataform, dbt, or equivalent frameworks on BigQuery. Contribute to BigQuery warehouse design, optimisation, performance tuning, and cost management. Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions to agreed scope, quality, and timeframes. About you: You’re an experienced cloud and data engineer who enjoys being hands-on while thinking about the bigger picture. You’re comfortable working in enterprise environments, collaborating across technical and non-technical teams, and taking responsibility for delivering high-quality solutions. Ideally you’ll also have: A bachelor’s qualification in Information Technology or a related field. Strong experience designing and implementing cloud platform services such as IAM, environments, networking, and resource hierarchy (GCP experience highly regarded). Strong data engineering experience, including data warehousing, dimensional modelling, and ELT/ETL patterns. Practical production experience with BigQuery or a comparable cloud-native data warehouse. Experience using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred). Experience with Dataform, dbt, or similar SQL-based transformation frameworks. Don't Meet Every Requirement? We encourage you to apply anyway. We are looking for individuals with diverse experiences and are keen to hear from those who believe they have the drive and potential to succeed in this role. 144,883 engineer jobs are open right now

Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

144.883Jobs

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
