ABOUT THE ROLE The Engineering Technical Authority (ETA) AIN Lead provides strategic leadership and operational oversight and technical direction for a team responsible for the Building Automation Systems (BAS) capability, Global ETA EPD and ESS (Engineering Project Delivery, Engineering specifications and standards) and Utilities subject matter expertise within Global Engineering. This role will require broad leadership for hiring a centralized team building capabilities for BAS, EPD, ESS and Utility subject matters. The position translates enterprise engineering strategies into operational objectives and leads teams of subject matter experts responsible for BAS, Specification and Standards development, system ownership, and project engineering support. The Associate Director partners closely with engineering, digital technology, and 3rd party provider teams to ensure BAS solutions are scalable, standardized, and aligned with global engineering strategies in addition to ETA network for EPD and ESS development and Utilities subject matters. ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and set the direction for the Engineering Technical Authority for BAS, EPD/ESS and Utility team at AIN. Aligning priorities with global engineering strategies and ETA objectives. Drive revenue results, budget, and resource allocation within respective departments Communicate team strategies, plans, and priorities across stakeholders and leadership teams. Translate business plans and engineering strategies into operational objectives Provide leadership and direction to overall team responsible for BAS standards development, platform ownership, and EPD, ESS and Utilities. Oversee multiple teams of subject matter experts. Lead a team to establish and advance standardized BAS automation architectures to improve engineering consistency and maintainability. Support development of reusable automation frameworks and design standards that improve engineering efficiency and project delivery. Oversee engineering initiatives to ensure alignment with project timelines and objectives. Ensure successful coordination of resources and priorities across multiple initiatives and engineering workstreams. Support enterprise engineering initiatives. Leads ETA team to establish engagement and teamwork as part of the Amgen culture Manages and leads cross functional coordination with other Amgen Engineering teams at AIN Is part of the AIN leadership team Ensures overall delivery of BAS and ESS/EPD meets the needs of the strategy and projects. Career development, training, and performance evaluations for broader team. Provide leadership support to standardized approach Leads technical Issues Management / Communication with stakeholders PREFERRED/GOOD TO HAVE QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Doctorate/Master's /Bachelors degree in Engineering with 16 to 20 years of Engineering industry experience Experience leading engineering teams, technical SMEs, or global engineering capability programs. Knowledge of HVAC systems, utility plant operations, and facility automation infrastructure. Experience developing engineering standards, automation architectures, or design frameworks. Demonstrated strategic thinking and decision-making capability with the ability to align technical initiatives with broader engineering objectives. Proven ability to drive continuous improvement and innovation initiatives that enhance automation performance and engineering efficiency. Strong collaboration and influencing skills across engineering, operations, facilities, and technology teams. Experience managing cross-functional engineering initiatives or multiple technical workstreams. Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop engineering leaders or subject matter experts. Experience working in regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or life sciences manufacturing. Experience managing engineering resources, program priorities, and operational planning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the organization and across Amgens international network. Experience working in a global matrix organization with cross-cultural and cross-time-zone stakeholder engagement .
