As a Remote Operations Engineer you will be at the forefront of the Process Engineering as a Service (PEaaS, a revolutionary initiative bridging the gap between traditional manufacturing and AI-driven automation. You will provide human oversight and domain expertise to our AI agents, solving critical operational challenges like high turnover and staffing shortages in industrial environments. This is a unique opportunity to move from traditional on-site process engineering to a tech-forward, remote role where you will directly influence the scalability of AI in manufacturing. A Day In Your Life Continuous Monitoring: Utilize AI-powered dashboards to monitor production performance, process conditions, and critical operating metrics for industrial manufacturing lines. Anomaly Management: Review AI-generated alarms and process deviations; surface and prioritize anomalies to ensure operational continuity. Real-time Coordination: Act as a critical liaison between Augury's AI insights and on-site personnel, guiding operational workflows and supporting operators with day-to-day decisions via Teams or VoIP. Documentation & Handoffs: Maintain meticulous operational logs and key event documentation, ensuring structured handoffs between night shifts and day-time on-site teams. Domain Expertise: Provide human-in-the-loop escalation support, applying your manufacturing background to troubleshoot complex industrial process issues. What You Bring Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, or a related technical field. Industry Experience: 4–8 years of experience operating, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimizing industrial manufacturing processes. Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with industrial systems including DCS, SCADA, Historians (e.g., AVEVA), and Industrial Automation. Analytical Mindset: Proven ability to analyze complex data sets and draw professional conclusions to improve manufacturing efficiency and yield. Communication: Excellent verbal and electronic communication skills in English, with the ability to lead technical discussions and build credibility with on-site engineering teams. Nice to Have Continuous Improvement: Experience with Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Process Optimization methodologies. Instrumentation & Controls: Familiarity with I&C systems and wireless OT connectivity protocols. AI/ML Interest: A passion for how AI agents can reduce routine monitoring loads and enhance human decision-making. Augury is a people-first organization. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
