Designation: - Commercial Manager - Retail Stores. Location:- Vikhroli-West, Mumbai. Role Overview:- The Commercial Manager Retail Stores will be a key finance and commercial partner for Purplle's retail expansion. This role combines rigorous capital investment evaluation with strategic procurement and vendor management, ensuring every rupee of Capex and operating spend is deployed efficiently, benchmarked to market, and aligned to Purplle's aggressive retail growth agenda. Key Responsibilities:- Capex Evaluation & Financial Appraisal Lead end-to-end evaluation of Capex proposals for new store openings, store refurbishments, and infrastructure investments across the retail network. Prepare detailed investment memos and present recommendations to senior leadership and the investment committee. Define and enforce Capex approval frameworks, spend thresholds, and governance processes in line with company policy. Track actuals vs. approved Capex on an ongoing basis; investigate variances and flag overruns proactively. Develop and maintain robust financial models to assess project viability and prioritise capital allocation. Capex Benchmarking & Cost Optimisation Establish and maintain a comprehensive benchmarking database for all major Capex line items (store fit- outs, fixtures, signage, equipment, civil works, etc.). Conduct regular market intelligence studies engaging with industry peers, vendors, and consultants to ensure Purplle's cost structures remain competitive. Drive cost-reduction initiatives through value engineering, specification rationalisation, and standardisation of store formats. Publish periodic benchmarking reports and cost intelligence dashboards for leadership review. Vendor Negotiation & Commercial Contracting Identify, onboard, and manage a qualified vendor panel for all store Capex and non-production procurement categories. Lead commercial negotiations with vendors to secure best-in-class pricing, payment terms, SLAs, and quality standards. Develop and execute RFQ / RFP processes; evaluate bids on a total cost of ownership basis. Draft, review, and manage vendor contracts in coordination with the legal team; ensure periodic renegotiation to capture market efficiencies. Build strategic, long-term vendor partnerships while maintaining a competitive multi-vendor supply base. Non-Production Procurement (Indirect / Marketing Materials) Own the procurement of all non-production/indirect items including in-store marketing materials, POS displays, branding collaterals, store consumables, uniforms, packaging, and retail fixtures. Collaborate closely with the Marketing, Visual Merchandising, and Retail Operations teams to translate brand requirements into actionable procurement briefs and timelines. Manage category-wise procurement calendars to ensure on-time delivery for campaigns, store launches, and seasonal refreshes. Institute demand consolidation and framework contracts to drive economies of scale across the retail network. Ensure compliance with sustainable sourcing guidelines and company ESG commitments. Process, Governance & Reporting Design and implement SOPs for end-to-end commercial processes from requirement scoping through vendor selection, PO issuance, delivery, and invoice settlement. Maintain accurate MIS on Capex pipelines, procurement spends, savings delivered, and vendor performance KPIs. Provide regular spend analytics, savings reports, and budget vs. actuals dashboards to finance and retail leadership. Drive continuous improvement through post-project reviews and lessons-learned documentation. Qualifications & Experience B.Tech / CIPS qualification with MBA / PGDM in Operations or Supply Chain from a reputed institution; 5+ years of progressive experience in commercial management, Capex management, procurement preferably within retail, FMCG/CPG, or consumer-facing industries. Demonstrated track record in evaluating and managing multi-crore Capex projects, including financial modelling and investment appraisal. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills with experience in executing complex commercial contracts. Hands-on experience in indirect / non-production procurement including marketing materials, POS, and store assets. Analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and executive-ready presentations.
