Opportunity Overview: We are seeking a Sr Business Intelligence Engineer to join our Intelligence team. In this role, you will drive the development and optimization of our analytical infrastructure, enabling efficient, scalable, and consistent reporting and analytics across the organization. You will play a critical role in shaping the foundation of our BI ecosystemworking at the intersection of engineering, data modeling, and stakeholder enablement. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced BI engineer who can execute cross-functional projects, design performant data models, and contribute to the execution of a unified data strategy across platforms. You will also provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members and contribute to the evolution of Coheres modern data stack and governance practices. What youll do: Lead the execution and refinement of our business intelligence and analytics architecture, ensuring consistency, performance, and scalability across dashboards and self-service tools.Design and implement robust semantic and dimensional data models supporting operational, clinical, and strategic analytics use cases.Collaborate closely with data platform, analytics, and product teams to define shared data definitions, build source-of-truth datasets, and align transformations with stakeholder needs.Improve data pipeline efficiency and maintainability by establishing and enforcing best practices in dbt modeling, testing, and documentation.Support release management, quality testing, version control, and promotion of analytics assets across environments.Enable data providers and analysts to deliver high-impact dashboards and KPI frameworks using Tableau, with an emphasis on performance, usability, and governance.Serve as the primary Tableau Cloud SME for the organization, including user management, security, performance tuning, and environment configuration.Lead integration of Tableau dashboards into front-end web applications using the Tableau APIs (embedding, authentication, filtering, and automation).Identify and remediate performance bottlenecks across queries, data models, and dashboards to ensure efficient access to high-volume datasets.Drive adoption of scalable, governed data marts that balance self-service enablement with data integrity, security, and compliance.Mentor and functionally lead junior engineers and analysts by providing technical guidance, conducting design reviews, and reinforcing BI and data engineering best practices.Contribute to shared documentation, standards, and operating processes to ensure long-term sustainability and trust in our analytics ecosystem.Required Qualifications: 3+ years of professional experience in business intelligence, analytics engineering, or data engineering, preferably in healthcare or another data-rich, regulated domain.Expert-level proficiency in SQL and strong hands-on experience with modern BI and analytics engineering frameworks (e.g., dbt or similar).Extensive experience working with healthcare data domains such as claims, members, providers, eligibility, authorizations, or utilization management.Deep expertise in Tableau (Cloud, Desktop, Prep), including Tableau APIs, dashboard embedding, row-level security, performance optimization, and administration.Proven experience designing scalable data models that support both enterprise reporting and ad hoc analysis.Strong understanding of dimensional modeling principles, normalization vs. denormalization tradeoffs, and analytical performance tuning.Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow.Hands-on experience working in AWS-based data platforms.Demonstrated ability to mentor or functionally lead a small team, providing technical direction and enforcing standards.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical decisions into business value.ISMS roles and responsibilities Fair understanding of Information Security practices.
