Senior Platform Software Engineer(Java, Microservices & Cloud) OCI Merino CI/CD Platform Team: OCI Merino Engineering Role: IC3 Backend Engineer / Senior Software Engineer Experience: 47 Years Mandatory Location: Bangalore Mandatory Work Type: Hybrid Team: The Merino team within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) builds OCI's internal CI/CD change workflow platform for reliable software build, validation, approval, and deployment. Merino helps OCI engineering teams improve: Release automation Deployment safety Developer productivity Change and deployment workflows Platform reliability Operational excellence This is a backend/cloud platform engineering team, not a traditional DevOps-only team. The engineer will build the microservices and distributed-system capabilities behind the CI/CD platform. Roles and Responsibilities: Design and develop scalable Java-based microservices and distributed backend services for the Merino platform. Build cloud-native capabilities supporting CI/CD, build, validation, approvals, change management and deployment orchestration. Take end-to-end ownership from architecture/design through coding, testing, deployment, monitoring and production support. Design reliable and maintainable REST APIs and service integrations. Develop integrations across build systems, release management, approvals, rollback and deployment workflows. Build services with strong focus on scalability, reliability, security, fault tolerance and maintainability. Participate in architecture, HLD/LLD, design reviews, code reviews and technical planning. Participate in on-call/production support and troubleshoot service, API, integration and distributed-system issues. Perform debugging and root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement permanent fixes. Drive operational excellence through automation, testing, monitoring, observability and reliability improvements. Handle system upgrades, patching and remediation of critical vulnerabilities. Work with internal customers/stakeholders, understand their requirements/issues and provide effective technical solutions. Independently own deliverables and ensure timelines and quality expectations are met. Apply modern development practices, including AI-assisted development, while maintaining production-quality coding, testing and security standards. Mandatory Skills 1. Microservices Strong hands-on experience in: Microservices architecture + distributed backend systems + REST APIs + system/service design Candidate should have actually designed/developed microservices, not merely worked in an application that uses microservices. 2. Cloud Hands-on experience developing/deploying production services on at least one major cloud: OCI / AWS / GCP / Azure Should understand cloud-native service development, deployment and production operations. 3. Java Programming Strong hands-on Java coding is critical. Look for Core Java + Spring Boot + REST APIs + multithreading/concurrency + design patterns + debugging + testing Candidate should be capable of independently designing and coding backend services. 4. End-to-End Ownership Candidate should demonstrate: Design Development Testing Deployment Monitoring Production Support This is particularly important for Merino. The candidate should not be someone who only develops features and hands them over to another team. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully.
