JOB SUMMARY DESCRIPTION / PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB A Senior Firmware Verification Engineer is responsible for leading verification plans and large hearing aid projects. They take a system-view to analyze problems across firmware, hardware, software and system interactions. Senior Engineers can receive an under-defined task, bringing clarity to the task, and accomplishing the task with high quality. They can independently and professionally interact with other teams. A Senior Firmware Engineer demonstrates both breadth and depth of knowledge. This position will collaborate closely with U.S. based firmware and verification teams. Maintaining a working overlap with the U.S. central time of two to three hours is required. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/RESULTS - Verify medical device firmware (hearing products) with strict requirements for reliability, performance and user safety - Design and document tests based on requirements to ensure appropriate functional and system-level coverage - Create manual tests, semi-automated tests, and automated tests for efficient regression, stress and performance testing. - Participate in remote design reviews, test plan reviews and defect triage - Implement and deploy automated tests using languages such as Python and C - Integrate tests into CI/CD Pipelines (e.g. Azure DevOps) - Develop scalable test frameworks and automation infrastructure - Investigate failed tests and system integration issues and drive timely resolution - Effectively communicate progress, risks, and blockers - Understand and participate in establishing requirements - Understand system level requirements impacting firmware deliverables. - Collaborate with others in the organization to define and improve system level requirements. - Define, document, and review firmware level requirements through analysis and simulations. - Provide technical leadership and mentorship - Mentor and coach engineers to strengthen technical capability and accelerate team development. - Create technical documentation and deliver knowledge-sharing sessions to improve team effectiveness. - Serve as a role model for sound engineering practices, technical depth, and professional collaboration. - Follow and improve established processes and initiate new processes - Diligently follow development processes such as code reviews, creation of documentation, coding conventions, etc. - Identify gaps in the existing processes and look for new opportunities to improve productivity. - Enhance existing processes and initiate and lead the creation of new processes. - Support project planning and cross-functional execution - Contribute to project planning, work estimates, and technical risk identification. - In Scrum-based projects, support technical planning and execution in roles such as technical lead, product owner, or scrum master as needed. - Proactively communicate and coordinate technical activities with cross-functional teams to support successful project delivery. - Other duties/responsibilities as assigned JOB REQUIREMENTS Minimum Education, Certification and Experience Requirements - Education and Experience - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fields; or - MSEE in related fields; or - PhD in related fields - Experience (i.e. years of work experience related to the job) - 8+ years of relevant experience (with BS); or - 3+ years of relevant experience (with MSEE); or - 2+ years of relevant experience (with PhD) Knowledge / Technical Requirements - Understanding of risk-based verification, traceability, and validation - Proficiency in scripting languages such as MATLAB and Python required - Familiarity with embedded systems development - Ability to test and debug firmware on target hardware platforms in a lab setting - Hands-on experience with embedded hardware debugging tools (JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) - Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in audio processing, DSP, or wireless systems (BLE) - Exposure to regulated development environments (FDA, IEC 62304, ISO 13485) preferred; ability to work within structured, traceable development processes required - Experience with RTOS environments and low-level hardware/software integration - Knowledge of languages such as C and assembly - Knowledge of analog and digital circuitry - Experience working with distributed/global teams .
