About the role The Weekend Venue & Kiosk Supervisor is the person responsible for the centre during their shift. You’ll oversee the venue, kiosk and casual staff team, make practical decisions throughout the day and ensure customers receive a friendly, safe and well-run experience. This role requires someone who can run the centre independently and confidently within our procedures. The General Manager needs to know that when you are on duty, the centre is in capable hands. You’ll be expected to make routine operational, staffing and customer decisions yourself, escalating only genuinely significant issues or emergencies. We have a close-knit sporting community with many regular customers, clubs, coaches and families. We’re looking for someone who enjoys getting to know people and can become a familiar, trusted face around the centre. At the same time, you need to be comfortable being the person in charge. That means setting boundaries, enforcing venue rules, dealing with difficult behaviour and, when necessary, asking someone to leave the premises. This is a hands-on role. You could be directing staff one minute, helping during a kiosk rush the next, responding to a first aid incident, resolving a customer issue or checking that bathrooms and public areas are clean. Key responsibilities Act as the senior point of contact and person in charge during the shift Build positive relationships with regular customers, clubs, coaches, families and other centre users Supervise, support and direct casual staff across the venue Train and develop new and existing staff Allocate and rotate staff according to workload and activity Manage staffing levels throughout the shift, including reducing staffing when demand allows Run and support kiosk operations, including food service, stock control and presentation Monitor food preparation, portion control and stock levels to minimise unnecessary wastage Understand the cost of waste and make practical decisions to protect stock, labour and revenue Manage POS, tills and cash handling, including identifying and resolving discrepancies Be the first point of contact for customers, hirers and sporting groups Deliver a high standard of friendly, proactive customer service Confidently enforce venue rules and manage inappropriate or unsafe behaviour, including directing people to leave the venue where necessary Respond appropriately to incidents, injuries and first aid situations and complete required incident reporting Monitor presentation and cleanliness throughout the venue, including bathrooms, rubbish and public areas Complete opening, closing and shift procedures Escalate serious incidents or operational issues to management where required About you You’re naturally good with people and enjoy becoming part of a community. You can build rapport with regular customers while maintaining the authority and judgement required to run a busy public venue. You’re calm and confident when dealing with conflict, difficult behaviour or unexpected incidents. You’re comfortable making decisions, taking responsibility for them and running the shift without needing constant direction from management. You take ownership, notice what needs doing and get it done. You understand that good venue management is not just about customer service — it also means controlling labour, reducing waste, protecting stock and ensuring the centre is operating efficiently. You’ll be willing to work alongside the team and step into whatever needs attention, whether that means serving customers, cleaning a bathroom, emptying bins, helping in the kiosk or resolving a staffing issue. Previous experience as a supervisor, duty manager, shift manager or team leader in hospitality, fast food, retail, recreation, entertainment or a similar customer-focused environment is strongly preferred. Previous experience operating or supervising a kiosk, café, fast-food outlet or similar food-service operation is essential . Demonstrated food safety knowledge is required, with Food Safety Supervisor certification highly regarded .
