Job Title: Cook Job Location/Region: Akaroa, Canterbury Number of Positions Available: 1 Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time Hourly rate or salary band: 26-32 NZD per hour Cook - Madeira Hotel Akaroa The Madeira Hotel, situated in vibrant Akaroa, is recruiting for the summer season. The pub has a thriving food culture and has built a reputation for it’s excellent casual dining experience. Akaroa is a busy tourism focused town with a great outdoor lifestyle and hospitality community. The Madeira is a local hub for young and old whether they are local or travelling through. We are looking to recruit someone with a passion for what they do, who has leadership experience in the kitchen and is looking for a new challenge. This is a permanent, full-time role. Key Objectives and Duties · Manage the Burger and Small-Plate Section · Cook the proteins on the Mains Section where required · Prepare all plates to be assembled for the pass · Perform all of the kitchen prep as required day to day · May be required to train other staff The applicant will need to meet the following requirements: · Consistently deliver high standards of food · Must be capable to work alone as well as part of a team · At least four years of experience in a cook role · Ensure high standards of cleanliness working within our Food Control Plan · Experience in managing junior staff is valued but not essential · Overseas experience is valued but not essential Days Required and Hours of Work Minimum weekly hours for the role are 30 hours per week, with Maximum hours at 50 hours per week. Employee will be expected to work weekends, availability from Monday - Sunday between the hours of 11 am - 9:30 pm, with variable rostered hours. Remuneration will be based on experience and qualifications. Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a current valid NZ work visa.
