Field Officer Civil Maintenance

Reporting to the Team Leader Civil Maintenance, this role is responsible for delivering Council's footpath grinding program, identifying and addressing trip hazards to ensure public walkways remain safe and accessible. While this is the primary focus of the position, the successful candidate will bring a flexible and team-oriented approach, providing support across other civil maintenance activities when required to meet operational priorities and service delivery needs. Our Civil Maintenance team is responsible for maintaining and improving the city's footpaths, kerbs, paving, storm-water infrastructure and associated assets. Based at our Golden Grove Operations Centre, the team delivers both planned and reactive maintenance programs to ensure our streets, reserves and public spaces remain safe, accessible and well-maintained for the community. To support this important work, we are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Officer Civil Maintenance to join our team. Key Responsibilities of this role: Operate concrete grinding equipment to remove trip hazards from Council footpaths and walkways. Inspect and assess footpath networks, identifying defects and developing proactive maintenance programs. Work collaboratively and provide flexible support across the Civil Maintenance team, assisting with concrete and kerb replacement, drainage and creek maintenance, materials handling and disposal Performing spotter duties and working safely in and around civil plant and equipment including backhoes, excavators, and tipper trucks Setting up and maintaining temporary traffic management and general site safety controls Completing site risk assessments and following councils WHS procedures Position Description - Field Officer, Civil Maintenance About you: You are someone who takes pride in delivering quality work and has a strong commitment to safety. To be successful in this role, you will have: Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card) A Work Zone Traffic Management (WZTM) or Temporary Traffic Management Implementor 1 (TMI1) and Traffic Controller 1 (TC1) Current South Australian Class HR licence Be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical and police clearance. This job will include: Working with teams across the Field Services Department as required. Occasional out of hours work may be required. Salary range is between $75,220 and $76,478 plus superannuation guarantee and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, experience and qualifications.
