The Opportunity Our Metal Coating Team is looking for a Material/Product Engineer to join the team at our Western Port Manufacturing facility. As a part of the broader Australian Steel Products Portfolio, we have four major manufacturing departments at Western Port which operate 24 x 7 and deliver a variety of products, innovative solutions and services to export and domestic customers. This is a hands-on technical role that combines daily operational support with longer term improvement projects. You'll investigate process issues, analyse product and production data, support fault finding activities and contribute to projects that improve manufacturing performance. Located in Hastings, Victoria , on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, this Monday to Friday day shift opportunity is ideally suited to a recent graduate looking to build technical capability within a complex manufacturing environment. Comprehensive training and development will be provided to support your growth. What Will You Do? With your analytical mindset and willingness to learn, you will: provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing operations, including process monitoring, troubleshooting and fault finding analyse operational and quality data to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives drive and support improvement projects and the implementation of new systems and tools assist with auditing activities and ensure products continue to meet customer and quality requirements contribute to a safe and productive working environment while supporting product quality outcomes More About You We are looking for a motivated and curious individual who enjoys solving problems, learning new systems and working collaboratively with others. Whether you're a recent graduate or have some industry experience, you will bring: relevant tertiary qualifications in Materials Engineering/Science or equivalent a commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and others strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues and identify practical solutions the ability to work effectively in an environment where priorities can change and ambiguity exists highly computer literate with the ability to quickly learn and effectively use a range of bespoke manufacturing systems excellent communication skills and the ability to build constructive relationships with a variety of stakeholders a proactive approach, high attention to detail and a desire to continuously learn and improve. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
