Job Description We are seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to oversee the accounting and financial reporting functions of the hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing month-end and year-end closing activities, preparing financial reports, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting management in financial planning and decision-making. Key Responsibilities Oversee the hospital’s full set of accounts, including General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR) and cash management. Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports. Lead and coordinate month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. Review journal entries, accruals, prepayments, provisions and account reconciliations. Monitor and reconcile hospital revenue, patient billing, insurance/TPA claims, collections and outstanding balances. Ensure accurate recording and reconciliation of revenue from various hospital services, including inpatient, outpatient, pharmacy and other clinical services. Prepare and monitor cash flow, budgets, forecasts and financial performance analysis. Provide financial analysis and insights to support management in business and operational decision-making. Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, statutory requirements and internal financial policies. Coordinate with external auditors, internal auditors, tax agents, banks, insurance companies, TPAs and other external stakeholders. Lead the preparation of audit schedules, supporting documents and financial information required for internal and external audits. Establish, review and strengthen financial controls and accounting procedures to minimise financial risks and ensure proper governance. Identify financial discrepancies and investigate variances, unusual transactions and reconciliation issues. Support the Finance Manager/HOD in the preparation of the annual budget, financial forecasts and strategic financial planning. Review and improve finance and accounting processes to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy. Ensure proper maintenance and confidentiality of financial records and patient-related financial information. Supervise, guide and provide support to finance team members where required. Perform other duties and ad hoc assignments as assigned by the Management. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, MIA or equivalent is preferred. Minimum 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or hospital environment. Strong experience in full set of accounts, financial reporting and month-end/year-end closing. Good knowledge of Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS), accounting principles and statutory requirements. Experience in healthcare revenue, patient billing, insurance/TPA claims and revenue reconciliation will be an added advantage. Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management and financial analysis. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems. Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail. Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. Able to work independently, manage multiple priorities and meet strict reporting deadlines. High level of integrity, professionalism and accountability. Experience in supervising or mentoring finance team members will be an added advantage.
