About You You are a Mid to Senior Frontend Engineer who enjoys building intuitive, scalable, and data-driven web applications. You have strong experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and are comfortable translating complex operational and geospatial data into clear, interactive user experiences. You have experience building data visualizations, dashboards, and accessible frontend applications, and you understand the importance of usability, maintainability, and performance. You are comfortable working in structured delivery environments, collaborating through code reviews and ticket-based workflows, and leveraging AI-assisted development tools to support your work. You Bring to Applaudo the Following Competencies: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is desired, or equivalent professional experience. 4+ years of professional experience in Frontend Development or Frontend Engineering. Strong hands-on experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, preferably React or Angular. Hands-on experience building interactive web mapping experiences using ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, MapLibre, Leaflet, Google Maps, or similar technologies. Experience working with geospatial or location-based data in frontend applications. Experience building data visualizations, dashboards, and data-driven user interfaces. Hands-on experience implementing WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements in frontend applications. Strong understanding of modern JavaScript, frontend development practices, and component-based architectures. Experience building scalable and maintainable user-facing applications. Proficiency with Git and collaborative development workflows. Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or similar tools. Experience working in structured delivery environments with documented designs, code reviews, and ticket-based workflows. Strong written and spoken English communication skills. Ability to maintain at least 4 hours of daily overlap with U.S. Eastern business hours. You Will Be Accountable for the Following Responsibilities: Build and enhance large-scale interactive maps, including layer controls, operational color-coding, and manual override functionality. Develop and maintain operational dashboards, transforming complex data into intuitive and actionable user experiences. Implement accessible frontend experiences in alignment with WCAG 2.1 AA requirements and support accessibility verification throughout the development lifecycle. Work with geospatial and operational data to create interactive, responsive, and user-friendly map-based experiences. Participate in beta feedback rounds, defect resolution, UI improvements, and application hardening through acceptance. Collaborate with the delivery team through documented designs, code reviews, Git-based workflows, and ticketed development processes. Leverage AI-assisted development tools to improve development efficiency and support high-quality software delivery. Qualifications 4+ years of professional experience in Frontend Development or Frontend Engineering. Strong hands-on experience with React or Angular. Experience building interactive web maps using ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScript, MapLibre, Leaflet, Google Maps, or similar technologies. Experience building data visualizations, dashboards, and data-driven user interfaces. Hands-on experience implementing WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements. Strong English communication skills. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully.
