About the Company The requirement is for Senior Python Engineers to be embedded within a customer’s Supply Chain Engineering team. The team will work alongside the customer’s engineers to modernise the platform using contemporary Python engineering practices and cloud-native architectural patterns. In parallel with delivery, the engagement will focus on knowledge transfer, developer mentorship and capability uplift, contributing to the continued evolution of engineering excellence within the organisation. The engineers will work closely with Product Management, Engineering Leadership, Principal Engineers and Supply Chain stakeholders, contributing to both solution delivery and longer-term engineering capability uplift. The engagement is intended to establish a reusable technical foundation, improve engineering maturity and accelerate future software delivery initiatives. Responsibilities Architecture Modernisation Design and implementation of modern Python-based microservices. Adoption of contemporary software engineering patterns, standards and practices. Development of reusable architectural components and frameworks. Application of cloud-native architectural patterns where appropriate. Alignment of technical solutions with the customer’s longer-term platform strategy. Contribution to architectural and technical design decisions. Engineering Excellence Promotion and adoption of software engineering best practices. Production of maintainable, scalable and high-quality code. Participation in technical design and architecture discussions. High-quality code reviews and peer collaboration. Application of appropriate testing, documentation and engineering standards. Sharing of practical knowledge and modern engineering approaches with the wider team. Capability Uplift Embedded coaching and mentorship of the customer’s engineers. Practical transfer of Python engineering and cloud-native development knowledge. Demonstration of modern development approaches and engineering practices. Pairing and collaborative problem-solving where appropriate. Contribution to the long-term improvement of engineering maturity and capability. Establishment of reusable patterns and practices that can be adopted beyond the initial engagement.
