Data Engineer – IICS, Snowflake & DBT - India(Remote),Contract Position Overview We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer with strong hands-on expertise in Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS), Snowflake, and DBT. The ideal candidate will have experience designing, developing, and migrating enterprise data pipelines from IICS/ETL platforms to modern cloud-based DBT and Snowflake architectures. The candidate should have strong experience working across the complete data engineering lifecycle, including data ingestion, transformation, data modeling, orchestration, testing, deployment, and performance optimization. Experience with Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities * Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using IICS, Snowflake, and DBT. * Develop and support complex ETL/ELT workflows using IICS for data ingestion and integration. * Develop DBT models to transform raw data into curated business-ready datasets in Snowflake. * Perform migration of existing IICS/ETL workflows to DBT/Snowflake, including analysis, redesign, development, validation, and deployment. * Convert existing IICS mappings, transformations, workflows, and business rules into efficient DBT models and SQL-based transformations. * Design and implement DBT staging, intermediate, and dimensional models following best practices. * Develop reusable DBT macros, tests, snapshots, incremental models, and documentation. * Implement data quality checks, reconciliation, and validation between legacy IICS pipelines and new DBT/Snowflake pipelines. * Work closely with business analysts, data architects, and application teams to understand data requirements and translate them into scalable data solutions. * Develop optimized SQL queries and Snowflake data models for large-volume data processing. * Troubleshoot data pipeline failures, performance issues, data discrepancies, and production incidents. * Implement DBT testing strategies including unique, not-null, relationship, accepted-values, and custom data quality tests. * Manage DBT deployments through CI/CD pipelines and follow established development, code review, and release processes. * Optimize Snowflake compute, storage, SQL queries, clustering, and warehouse utilization. * Develop and maintain data lineage, technical documentation, source-to-target mappings, and data flow diagrams. * Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement automated deployment and release processes. Airflow – Preferred / Added Advantage * Experience developing and managing Apache Airflow DAGs for data pipeline orchestration. * Integrate Airflow with DBT and Snowflake to orchestrate end-to-end ELT workflows. * Schedule and monitor DBT jobs, data ingestion processes, dependencies, and downstream workflows using Airflow. * Implement retries, dependencies, failure handling, alerts, and monitoring within Airflow. * Experience migrating existing IICS scheduling/workflows to Airflow-based orchestration is a strong plus. Required Skills * Strong hands-on experience with Informatica IICS. * Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake. * Strong hands-on experience with DBT / dbt Cloud. * Advanced SQL skills with experience working on large datasets. * Strong understanding of ETL/ELT concepts and data warehousing. * Experience with data modeling, dimensional modeling, and cloud data platforms. * Experience developing and supporting production data pipelines. * Experience with source-to-target mapping and data reconciliation. * Understanding of CI/CD, Git, pull requests, and deployment processes. Preferred Skills * Apache Airflow experience. * Experience migrating IICS/legacy ETL pipelines to DBT/Snowflake. * Experience with Python/PySpark. * Experience with AWS or Azure cloud platforms. * Experience with S3/ADLS and cloud-based data lakes. * Experience with DBT snapshots, incremental models, macros, packages, and advanced testing. * Experience with Snowflake performance tuning and cost optimization. * Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins. Experience * 7+ years of overall experience in Data Engineering / ETL. * 4+ years of hands-on experience with IICS/Informatica. * 3+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake. * 2+ years of hands-on experience with DBT. * Strong experience in IICS → Snowflake/DBT migration and modernization is highly preferred. * Airflow experience is an added advantage. Key Technical Focus IICS → Snowflake → DBT → Airflow → CI/CD The ideal candidate should be able to understand an existing IICS pipeline, analyze its mappings and business logic, redesign the transformation using DBT/Snowflake, validate the results against the legacy pipeline, and orchestrate the new solution using Airflow where applicable.
Here's how to pick the right one and stand out in your application.

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
