A Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for strengthening security infrastructure, identifying vulnerabilities, and protecting applications, systems, networks, and data from evolving security threats. The role requires hands-on experience across security monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and security engineering, along with a strong understanding of modern enterprise security practices. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and maintain security controls across applications, systems, networks, and cloud environments. Monitor security events and investigate suspicious activities, vulnerabilities, and potential security incidents. Conduct vulnerability assessments and coordinate remediation of identified security risks. Support incident response, root-cause analysis, and security investigations. Configure and manage security tools including SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and firewalls. Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to identify and resolve security issues. Perform security reviews of applications, APIs, infrastructure, and cloud deployments. Develop and maintain security policies, standards, procedures, and technical documentation. Participate in threat modeling, security assessments, and risk analysis. Track emerging threats, attack techniques, vulnerabilities, and security technologies. Required Skills & Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field. 3–8 years of experience in cybersecurity, information security, or security engineering. Strong understanding of networking concepts including TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, VPNs, and firewalls. Hands-on experience with vulnerability assessment and security testing. Experience with SIEM, EDR, IDS/IPS, or related security platforms. Strong understanding of Linux and Windows security. Knowledge of cloud security across AWS, Azure, or GCP. Understanding of OWASP Top 10 and common application security vulnerabilities. Experience with scripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Good to Have Experience with DevSecOps and integrating security into CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of container and Kubernetes security. Experience with penetration testing or application security. Familiarity with threat intelligence and MITRE ATT&CK. Knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, or CIS. Certifications such as Security+, CEH, OSCP, CISSP, or relevant cloud-security certifications.
