Backend Engineer (Node.js + JavaScript) at BairesDev Join as a Backend Engineer to work on data-intensive applications using JavaScript. You'll contribute to technical projects involving complex data manipulation, processing workflows, and system integration. What You'll Do Design and implement solutions for complex data manipulation and transformation. Build and optimize data processing workflows and pipelines. Work with various data structures to solve technical challenges efficiently. Collaborate with engineering teams on backend architecture and API design. What We Are Looking For 8+ years of experience in software engineering. Strong proficiency in JavaScript for backend development (preferably Node.js). Deep understanding of data structures (arrays, objects, maps, sets, trees, graphs) and how to manipulate them efficiently in JavaScript. Strong fundamentals in algorithms including sorting, searching, traversal, and optimization techniques. Experience building RESTful APIs and backend services. Experience with asynchronous programming patterns in JavaScript. Advanced level of English. Nice To Have Familiarity with TypeScript. Knowledge of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL). Understanding of data pipeline architecture. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Familiarity with caching strategies and tools. Knowledge of message queues or event-driven systems. Understanding of microservices architecture. Experience with testing frameworks and practices. DevOps and CI/CD familiarity. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
