Since the 1980s, concrete portions of the hydro station have been affected by a chemical reaction called alkali-aggregate reaction. The reaction causes the concrete to swell and crack and has required substantial annual maintenance and repairs. NB Power is proposing a project to ensure the station can operate to its intended 100-year lifespan with a modified approach to maintenance and adjusting and replacing equipment and concrete overtime.As part of the Mactaquac Life Achievement Project, the Commercial Manager is responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end commercial functions of the project, ensuring the effective planning, execution, and oversight of commercial strategy, procurement, contracting, inventory management, and contract administration. The role ensures all commercial activities are delivered in a transparent, compliant, and cost-effective manner while supporting the successful delivery of project objectives.Key functions include:Commercial GovernanceLead the commercial governance framework and continuously improve commercial processes, standards, and controlsProvide commercial guidance to leadership and project stakeholders on contractual, financial, and commercial mattersProcurement and Contract ManagementLead procurement and oversee contract development, administration, and close-out in compliance with organizational standardsManage commercial risks, claims, variations, and disputes to support successful project deliveryContractor and Supplier ManagementOversee contractor-led procurement and manage commercial relationships with contractors, consultants, and suppliers to ensure compliance and resolve commercial issuesInventory & Materials ManagementOversee project inventory and warehouse operations, ensuring accurate material tracking and compliance with financial and contractual requirementsPerformance ReportingDevelop KPIs, monitor commercial performance, and recommend corrective actions where requiredOur ideal teammate will have:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related disciplineSeven years of relevant experience in procurement and contract management within large, complex construction or infrastructure projects, including a minimum of three years in a leadership role.Strong knowledge of commercial risk, claims management, financial analysis, and reportingProven leadership, negotiation, communication, stakeholder management, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExperience with project management and cost management systems is considered an assetSupply Chain certification will be considered as an assetAn equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
