Position Summary The Truck Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of electric motors, industrial equipment, parts, and materials between Duke Electric facilities, customer locations, vendors, and job sites throughout Ontario and surrounding regions. The Truck Driver ensures all deliveries and pickups are completed safely, professionally, and efficiently while maintaining compliance with company policies, transportation regulations, and health and safety standards. Key ResponsibilitiesTransportation & Delivery * Operate company trucks and vehicles safely and professionally. * Deliver and pick up electric motors, pumps, drives, industrial equipment, components, and materials. * Plan routes to maximize efficiency and meet delivery schedules. * Ensure deliveries are complete, accurate, and properly documented. * Obtain delivery receipts, signatures, and shipping documentation as required. * Perform occasional long-distance and overnight deliveries when required. Loading & Material Handling * Load, unload, and secure cargo using appropriate tie-downs, straps, and blocking methods. * Inspect shipments before transport to ensure proper packaging and securement. * Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, overhead cranes, and lifting equipment (training/certification required). * Assist warehouse and shop personnel with material movement when not driving. Vehicle Maintenance & Inspection * Complete daily vehicle inspections before operating company vehicles. * Report defects, maintenance requirements, accidents, or damage immediately. * Maintain vehicle cleanliness and professional appearance. * Keep accurate mileage, inspection, and driver logs as required. Safety & Compliance * Follow all Ministry of Transportation (MTO) regulations and Highway Traffic Act requirements. * Comply with Duke Electric health and safety policies and procedures. * Maintain a safe driving record and valid driver's licence. * Ensure loads are properly secured before transport. * Use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when on customer sites or company property. * Participate in safety meetings and training programs. Customer Service * Represent Duke Electric professionally at customer locations. * Communicate effectively with customers, dispatch, warehouse personnel, and management. * Assist customers with delivery-related inquiries. * Maintain a courteous and positive attitude at all times. Qualifications * Valid Ontario Class G license (Class DZ considered an asset). * Clean driver's abstract and acceptable insurance record. * Minimum 3 years of commercial driving experience preferred. * Forklift certification or willingness to obtain certification. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly. * Strong knowledge of Ontario roadways and transportation regulations. * Basic computer and mobile device skills for electronic forms and communications. * Excellent organizational and communication skills. Working Conditions * Frequent driving throughout Southern Ontario. * Loading and unloading materials in warehouses, repair shops, and customer facilities. * Exposure to varying weather conditions. * Occasional overtime and flexible hours to meet customer requirements. * Use of safety footwear, high-visibility clothing, gloves, and other PPE as required. Reporting Relationship Reports to the Operations Manager / Logistics Coordinator / CSR's, etc as needed.
