Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Various locations. Tasks: Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials. Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment. Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle. Receive and relay information to central dispatch. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption. Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo. Transport and handle dangerous goods. Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses : AZ class license. Air Brake (Z) Endorsement. Documentation knowledge: Bill of lading. Driver logbook. Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip). Trans-border documentation. Type of trucking and equipment: Refrigerated. Tractor-trailer. Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul. Security and safety: Valid passport. Criminal record check. Driving record check (abstract). Drug test. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Willing to travel cross-border. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Sitting. Weight handling: Up to 13.5 kg (30 lbs). Own tools/equipment: Cellular phone. Personal suitability: Team player. Patience. Screening questions: Do you have experience working in this field?. Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years.
