Key Responsibilities: Implement, configure, and maintain SCADA systems for industrial automation projects. Support and troubleshoot IT networking issues, including servers, workstations, and industrial networks, within the SCADA environment. Develop and maintain scripts/applications using Python, Java, and web technologies to enhance SCADA functionalities. Maintain, program, and design databases for industrial applications. Configure and integrate RTUs, PLCs, DCS, and Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) for control and monitoring. Work with Ignition SCADA, with preference for candidates holding the 8.1 IU Credential. Ensure basic cybersecurity best practices are followed in OT/IT environments. Provide technical support and be available on-call outside office hours, weekends, and holidays as required. Travel and deploy nationwide for on-site implementation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Work with plant personnel, dispatch operations engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure reliable system performance. Qualifications Required: Basic knowledge of IT networking, server/workstation troubleshooting, and system administration. Familiarity with SCADA, RTU, DCS, PLC, and IEDs. Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles for industrial control systems. Good communication skills and ability to work with different stakeholders. Willingness to be trained and stay updated on the latest technologies. Ability to travel and be deployed nationwide. Willing to work on-call during off-hours, weekends, and holidays. Preferred: Experience with Ignition SCADA (Ignition 8.1 IU Credential is a plus). Proficiency in Python, Java, Databases and web development. Prior experience in industrial automation and control systems. Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Instrumentation and Control Engineering, or a related field. Licensed Electronics Engineer (ECE) or Electrical Engineer (EE) is preferred but not always required. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
