Job description: Let's introduce ourselves Propulsion & Climate Labs is Volvo Cars’ center for complete vehicle propulsion testing. We develop and operate advanced test facilities for propulsion, aerodynamics, and climate performance, covering everything from test preparation to execution. The Emissions and Energy Lab tests emissions, fuel consumption, and electric vehicle range. Our work includes development, verification, certification, CoP, and correlation testing according to global standards.We are now looking for a Technical Support Engineer to join our team at the Vehicle Propulsion & Climate Test Centre in Gothenburg. What you'll do • Supporting emissions testing and daily lab operations• Contributing to planning and prioritization of test activities• Assisting in analysing test data, measurement quality and efficiency• Taking part in improvement initiatives that enhance our lab operations• Collaborating with engineers, test operators and stakeholders• Supporting documentation and preparation for auditsYou will gain valuable insights into how testing is planned, executed and continuously improved – and how your contribution helps us move forward. What you'll bring Studies within engineering or a related technical field Strong analytical skills and a structured way of working A genuine interest in testing, measurement systems and technical equipment An interest in automotive technology and vehicle systems Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with a variety of stakeholders. You are self-driven, take ownership of your work, and have the ability to independently identify, obtain, and apply relevant information to solve tasks and achieve established goals. Fluency in Swedish and English (written and spoken) A valid Swedish B driver’s license Experience from test environments or labs is a plus, but most importantly, you bring a willingness to learn and a passion for technology.

If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.

Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
