Position Summary SingleStore engineers build the real-time data platform that enables some of the world's most demanding applications. Our cloud-native database architecture enables high-performance transactional and analytical workloads at scale. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Managed Service (Helios) team, you will build and own release-defining projects at the intersection of distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, networking, and database technology. Helios runs thousands of SingleStore clusters across AWS, Azure, and GCP — autonomously deployed, scaled, secured, and healed on top of Kubernetes — operating at the frontier of multi-cloud, multi-region, multi-tenant, low-latency, always-on systems. You will work across the control plane, the data plane, the operator, networking, storage, and the customer portal, with true end-to-end ownership. Note: This role is open across multiple levels. Final leveling (Senior, Staff, or Principal) will be determined based on experience, scope of impact, and demonstrated technical leadership throughout the interview process. What you’ll do: Lead complex, cross-functional technical initiatives from conception to deployment. Work closely with product managers, designers, customers, and other engineers to ensure we deliver a high-quality experience. Drive the team's engineering standards, championing best practices in system design, code quality, testing, observability, and CI/CD pipelines to ensure we scale reliably. Solve complex, mission-critical system problems with solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and resilient. Mentor and guide more junior team members, coordinate with other stakeholders and contribute to process improvements, raising the technical bar across the team. Communicate complex technical decisions and trade-offs clearly, including their impact on system performance, reliability, and business outcomes. Partner cross-functionally with teams including Sales, Marketing, and G&A to support product delivery and customer success. Your experience: Strong understanding of and hands-on experience with distributed systems and cloud services. 5+ years of experience developing and debugging system-level software in languages similar to Golang or TypeScript. Track record of leading non-trivial projects from design through production rollout, navigating ambiguity along the way. Strong communication skills with a passion for mentoring peers, fostering a collaborative team culture, and executing efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Passion for building high-quality products that are robust and easy to maintain in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience building cloud-native SaaS platforms. Experience working with frontend web frameworks like React. Prior experience mentoring engineers or leading technical projects. About us: SingleStore delivers the cloud-native database with the speed and scale to power the world’s data-intensive applications. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
