Document Controls Engineer Location: Project-Based Employment Type: Full-Time Travel: Site-based in Hubbard, TX OR up to 50% Travel Required Drive the Information That Powers Project Success Large-scale infrastructure projects generate thousands of documents, drawings, specifications, submittals, reports, and technical records. Effective document control ensures project teams have access to accurate, current information, enabling safe, efficient, and successful project delivery. At Michels Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (MIS) , we partner with customers, engineers, and construction professionals to deliver some of North America's most complex mission-critical, hyperscale, and infrastructure projects. As the General Contractor and EPC delivery arm of the Michels Family of Companies, MIS supports projects where accuracy, accountability, and information management play a critical role in project execution. Position Overview As a Document Controls Engineer , you will manage the organization, distribution, tracking, and maintenance of project documentation across complex infrastructure and data center projects. You will serve as a key resource supporting project teams by ensuring drawings, specifications, engineering deliverables, contracts, submittals, RFIs, and turnover records are properly controlled throughout the project lifecycle. This role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate across engineering, construction, procurement, and project management teams. Success requires a proactive approach to information management, process improvement, and maintaining document integrity from project initiation through closeout. Key Responsibilities Manage document control processes and procedures across large-scale infrastructure and mission-critical projects. Maintain project document management systems, ensuring current and accurate versions of all project records are available to stakeholders. Coordinate the review, distribution, tracking, and archival of drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, contracts, and engineering deliverables. Support project teams in maintaining compliance with document control requirements, standards, and customer expectations. Track document status, approvals, revisions, and workflows to ensure timely project execution. Support project turnover activities by organizing and validating as-built documentation, operating manuals, and closeout records. What You'll Do Manage engineering, construction, and project documentation from project kickoff through final closeout. Coordinate with project managers, engineers, field teams, subcontractors, and customers to ensure document workflows remain aligned with project schedules. Review documentation for completeness, consistency, accuracy, and compliance with project requirements. Generate reports and status updates related to document control metrics, deliverables, and project milestones. Support quality management, commissioning, and turnover teams by maintaining organized and traceable project records. What It Takes Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Information Management, Business, or a related field and 3+ years of document control, project controls, engineering support, or construction administration experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience supporting engineering, construction, data center, industrial, EPC, or large infrastructure projects preferred. Knowledge of document control standards, revision management processes, and project information management best practices. Experience managing engineering drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, contracts, commissioning records, and project turnover documentation. Proficiency with document management and project collaboration platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Aconex, SharePoint, Bluebeam, or similar systems. Ability to review technical documents, identify discrepancies, and maintain organized document workflows. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience supporting quality, commissioning, turnover, or project closeout processes preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
