We are looking for an Intermediate Java Developer to join a professional services development team, supporting enterprise software development and integration projects within a large telecommunications environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, testing, deploying and supporting software solutions, with a strong focus on Java/J2EE, Spring, Apache Camel, SQL, system integration and enterprise databases. The role requires a hands-on developer who can translate business and technical requirements into reliable software solutions and provide ongoing production support. RequirementsKey Responsibilities · Develop, build and maintain reliable and effective software solutions using Java/J2EE, Spring, Apache Camel and associated technologies. · Translate business and technical requirements into appropriate application designs, data models and structures. · Develop solutions using Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL and PostgreSQL databases. · Write complex, efficient and optimised SQL queries to support application and data requirements. · Work with Oracle PL/SQL and APEX where required. · Develop and integrate REST APIs and enterprise systems. · Support software integration using technologies such as RabbitMQ and ActiveMQ. · Deploy, install and configure software releases across relevant environments. · Utilise Git for version control and collaborative development. · Work with Docker and Kubernetes for application deployment and containerisation. · Utilise Linux/Bash for scripting, system administration and server-related tasks. · Conduct software testing in accordance with defined specifications and project requirements. · Develop and execute integration test specifications and document test results and failures. · Conduct FAT, UAT and system integration testing and produce relevant reports and documentation. · Use tools such as Postman to test APIs and application functionality. · Troubleshoot, debug and resolve software defects, integration issues and production incidents. · Provide technical support and assist with resolving software-related issues. · Support software solutions post-implementation, including bug fixing and production support. · Document software solutions, systems, configurations and technical processes. · Participate in quality reviews, code reviews and testing activities. · Work closely with development and cross-functional teams to deliver project requirements. · Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and development activities. · Apply sound SDLC principles throughout the software development lifecycle. · Accurately estimate development effort and delivery timeframes. · Continuously develop technical knowledge and remain up to date with relevant technologies, frameworks and industry trends. · Participate in workshops, conferences, cross-functional initiatives and projects as required. Minimum Requirements · IT Degree or Diploma or relevant tertiary qualification. · 5+ years' relevant Java development experience. · Strong hands-on experience with Java/J2EE. · In-depth knowledge of: o Spring Framework o Apache Camel o J2EE containers and web servers o SQL and relational databases · Experience with Oracle, MSSQL, MySQL and/or PostgreSQL. · Strong working experience with RabbitMQ and/or ActiveMQ. · Experience with Linux and Bash scripting. · Experience with Git and source/version control. · Experience with Docker and Kubernetes deployments. · Experience developing and testing REST APIs and system integrations. · Experience with Postman or similar API testing tools. · Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). · Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. · Strong software testing, troubleshooting and debugging capabilities. · Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. · Ability to accurately estimate effort and delivery timeframes. · Strong written and verbal communication skills. · Ability to work effectively as part of a team. · Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. · Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. · Professional, accountable and customer-focused approach. Advantageous Experience · Experience with Oracle PL/SQL and APEX. · Knowledge of HTML and CSS. · Enterprise systems integration experience. · Experience working with complex, business-critical software environments. Experience supporting production systems and customer-facing technical environments.
