About the Position CMSN Group Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant (General) to take carriage of the company's financial reporting, compliance and record-keeping functions on a full-time, permanent basis at our Coonabarabran office. Reporting directly to the Director, the successful applicant will be responsible for producing accurate and timely financial reports and budgets, maintaining the integrity of the company's accounting records and day-to-day bookkeeping, and ensuring that all Australian taxation and financial reporting obligations are met in full. The role is central to the operation of the business: as CMSN continues to grow its service lines and expand into the renewable energy market, management relies on sound financial information to plan, invest and make commercially sound decisions. This is an excellent opportunity for a capable accountant who is looking for genuine autonomy, direct access to the Director and real scope to improve processes within a growing Australian technology company. Key Responsibilities Preparing and analysing financial reports, statements and budgets for management review. Maintaining accurate and timely accounting records, including day-to-day bookkeeping, using the company's accounting software. Ensuring compliance with all relevant Australian taxation and financial reporting requirements. Assisting with monthly and annual financial closings, including processing reconciliations and supporting payroll functions. Liaising with external accountants, auditors and financial institutions as required. Recommending and implementing process improvements to enhance financial efficiency. Supporting management in financial planning and decision-making. Assisting in the formulation of budgetary and accounting policies. Providing assurance on the accuracy of information contained in financial reports and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Undertaking other duties reasonably assigned by the employer, having regard to the successful applicant's skills, training and experience. Requirements Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting. A minimum of three to four years' experience in a relevant accounting role. Sound working knowledge of Australian taxation, GST, BAS, PAYG and statutory financial reporting obligations. Demonstrated proficiency with commercial accounting software and advanced spreadsheet skills. Proven ability to perform bookkeeping, reconciliations, month-end and year-end closing processes and payroll support functions accurately and to deadline. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and present clear, practical recommendations to management. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail, together with sound judgement and personal integrity in handling confidential financial information. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial matters to non-financial colleagues and to work effectively with external accountants, auditors and financial institutions. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a small team. Availability to work an average of 38 hours per week between 9.30am and 5.30pm, Monday to Friday, and reasonable additional hours where necessary to perform the duties of the role.
