2026-Aug-21 to 2026-Sep-22 Mechanical Engineer Otago Drilling Pty Ltd Perth WA 6000 Full-time Permanent Annual Salary: $85k to $95k Position Summary The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the company's drilling equipment and associated mechanical plant. The position will assist with maintenance planning, equipment reliability, fault analysis and the ongoing improvement of drilling equipment and mechanical systems. The employee will initially undertake training and familiarisation with Otago Drilling's drilling rigs, equipment and operational requirements while applying their existing mechanical engineering knowledge to the company's maintenance and operational activities. Key Duties and Responsibilities • Develop and manage preventative and scheduled maintenance programs for drilling rigs, vehicles and associated mechanical equipment. • Inspect and analyse mechanical, hydraulic and related systems to identify faults, wear and potential equipment failures. • Investigate equipment failures and recommend appropriate engineering solutions and corrective actions. • Design, modify and improve mechanical components and systems used in drilling operations. • Prepare engineering calculations, maintenance schedules, technical specifications, procedures and other engineering documentation. • Analyse equipment performance, maintenance history and breakdown data to improve reliability and minimise downtime. • Provide technical support and professional engineering advice to drilling and maintenance personnel. • Select and assist with the procurement of mechanical components, replacement parts and equipment. • Provide engineering oversight of repairs, installations, modifications, testing and commissioning of mechanical equipment. • Liaise with suppliers, contractors and equipment manufacturers regarding technical and maintenance requirements. • Establish and maintain engineering standards and procedures for the inspection, testing, installation, modification and maintenance of mechanical equipment. • Ensure mechanical equipment and engineering activities comply with engineering principles, relevant safety requirements, manufacturer specifications and applicable standards. • Participate in site-based activities to develop practical knowledge of drilling equipment and identify opportunities for operational and mechanical improvements. Qualifications and Experience • Degree-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent. • Demonstrated previous experience in mechanical engineering, maintenance, reliability or related engineering activities. • Ability to analyse mechanical systems and diagnose equipment faults. • Strong maintenance planning, technical documentation and problem-solving skills. • Willingness to undertake training and develop specialised knowledge of drilling rigs and drilling operations. • Ability to work effectively in workshop and site-based environments. • Current driver's licence. Annual Salary: $85k to $95k
