About the Business Border Reivers Farming Pty Ltd is a family-owned and operated agricultural enterprise based in Yarawindah, Western Australia, specialising in mixed grain and beef cattle production. About the Role The successful applicant will undertake a broad range of practical farming duties throughout the crop production cycle, from preparing paddocks and maintaining crops through to harvesting, storage and transport. Key Responsibilities • Assist with preparing soil and paddocks for seeding, including cultivation and related activities • Assist with seeding and harvesting operations • Assist with fertilising crops and applying other crop inputs • Inspect paddocks and crops regularly and report on crop condition, growth and any signs of weeds, pests, disease or other issues • Where appropriately trained and authorised, undertake crop spraying activities to manage weeds, insects, fungal growth and crop diseases • Operate tractors, farm machinery and other agricultural equipment used in cultivation, seeding, crop maintenance and harvesting • Assist with storing grain • Load harvested produce, bales and other agricultural products onto trucks, trailers or other transport equipment as required • Maintain, clean and safely operate farm machinery, implements and equipment • Carry out routine upkeep of farm infrastructure, including sheds, fences, storage areas and other agricultural facilities • Assist with identifying mechanical, equipment or infrastructure issues and report maintenance requirements to supervisors • Maintain clean, safe and organised work areas around machinery sheds, storage facilities and other farm areas • Follow workplace health and safety, biosecurity, chemical handling and environmental procedures at all times • Perform other general farm duties as required throughout the seasonal farming cycle About You We are looking for someone who is: • Minimum 1 year experience in general farm work, cropping or a similar agricultural environment; • Comfortable working outdoors and undertaking physically demanding tasks; • Able to safely operate tractors, farm machinery and agricultural equipment, or willing to undertake training; • Reliable, punctual and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a small team; • Able to follow instructions and established farming and safety procedures; • Practical and mechanically minded, with an ability to identify basic equipment and maintenance issues; • Willing to work additional or varied hours during busy seasonal periods such as seeding and harvest; • Safety-conscious, particularly when working around heavy machinery, chemicals and agricultural equipment; and • Committed to maintaining a high standard of work and care • Must have valid Driver’s License Salary: $75,000 - $80,000, with house included
