Position: Chef Type: Full-time Employer: Toodyay Food and Liquor Merchants Pty Ltd trading as Victoria Hotel Toodyay Location: Toodyay WA 6566 Salary: $80,000 p/a About the Business: Victoria Hotel Toodyay is a carefully restored heritage landmark in the heart of the Avon Valley that blends historic Australian character with contemporary comfort. Operating as a hotel, restaurant, bar and bottleshop under Toodyay Food and Liquor Merchants Pty Ltd, the venue offers boutique accommodation, locally inspired cuisine with modern twists on classic dishes, alfresco dining and a welcoming beer garden overlooking the rolling hills. Guests and locals alike enjoy a relaxed country atmosphere supported by warm hospitality, quality food and drink, and a workplace culture that values teamwork, consistency and genuine service in a regional setting. About the Position: The Chef plays a central role in delivering high-quality, consistent meals that define the dining experience at Victoria Hotel Toodyay. Working within the kitchen team, the role is responsible for preparing and presenting dishes that reflect the venue’s focus on fresh local flavours and classic favourites with a modern edge, supporting daily service across the restaurant, bar and specials while upholding food safety, presentation and operational standards that are essential to the hotel’s reputation and guest satisfaction. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare, cook and present a range of dishes in line with the restaurant’s menu standards and seasonal specials • Maintain consistent quality, portion control and presentation throughout all services • Support kitchen operations including mise en place, stock rotation and efficient workflow during busy periods • Uphold strict food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards at all times • Assist with ordering, stock control and minimising wastage • Work collaboratively with the wider kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service • Contribute to a positive, professional kitchen environment that supports the hotel’s reputation for quality and hospitality Requirements: • Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply. • Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery and Advanced Diploma of Hospitality Management (or equivalent). • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience as a Chef. • Strong technical cooking skills across a range of dishes, including classic pub favourites and modern interpretations; excellent time management, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure in a busy kitchen, and strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
