Specialising in premium cuts of steak grilled to perfection, we are conducting a search for a dedicated and skilled Chef. Responsibilities and Duties: • Prepare and cook a wide variety of dishes according to recipes and standards set by the restaurant. • Inspect and ensure quality of ingredients used in food preparation, including meats, vegetables and spices. • Manage and coordinate kitchen staff, assigning tasks and overseeing their performance to maintain efficiency and quality. • Plan menus, taking into account seasonal availability of ingredients, dietary restrictions and customer preferences. • Monitor inventory levels and order supplies to ensure sufficient stock for daily operations. • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations and guidelines. • Utilise various cooking techniques and equipment to achieve desired flavors and textures in dishes. • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, providing guidance on cooking techniques and food preparation procedures. • Collaborate with management team to develop new menu items and promotional offerings, contributing to the overall success of the restaurant. Qualification, Work Experience and Skills: • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery or Relevant qualifications. • A minimum of two years experience in a similar role. • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain high standards of food quality and presentation • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, essential for coordinating with kitchen staff and liaising with other departments. • Strong leadership abilities to manage kitchen operations, delegate tasks and motivate team members to achieve common goals. • Problem-solving skills to address challenges that arise during food preparation and service, ensuring smooth operations and customer satisfaction. • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices to maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, minimising the risk of foodborne illnesses.
