POSITION OVERVIEW The Electrical Engineer I supports electronic design, test, and analysis in support of product development. This is an onsite position located in Zeeland, MI. It is not eligible for hybrid or remote work at this time. WHAT YOU’LL DO Perform electronic design in a cross-functional engineering team to develop and launch new products. Support development of test requirements, methods, and limits to confirm the quality of products during development and mass production. Utilize electrical CAD tools to support electronic design for embedded applications. Utilize electrical design analysis and simulation tools to aid in electronic design and ensure products meet Gentex quality standards. Support debugging and root cause analysis of complex electronic products. Support cross-functional design reviews for electronic schematics and printed circuit board layouts. Work with a mentor to develop engineering capabilities and become proficient in Gentex processes. Evaluate supplier components against internal application requirements. Stay current with technology, manufacturing, and industry trends to drive continuous improvement of products, process, and methods. Other duties as assigned. WHAT TO BRING Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Current and continuing right to work in the United States without sponsorship. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.

When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
