As an Automation QA Engineer , you will help ensure the quality and reliability of our technology solutions by designing, developing, and executing automated tests across a range of applications and platforms. You'll work closely with developers, product owners, and fellow engineers to identify quality risks, improve testing processes, and support the delivery of high-quality software. About the Team You'll join a collaborative Test Enablement team that supports engineering squads across ING. Together, we help teams adopt effective testing practices, improve automation coverage, and deliver quality software with confidence. Required Skills What You'll Do Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and testing frameworks. Execute functional, regression, integration, and performance testing activities. Collaborate with developers and product teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage. Analyze test results, identify defects, and support issue resolution. Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and automation practices. Support CI/CD initiatives and quality engineering activities throughout the delivery lifecycle. Ensure testing standards are consistently applied across applications and projects. Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to team success. What You'll Bring Experience in test automation within enterprise applications, distributed systems, or microservices environments. Strong programming skills in Java. Experience working with automation frameworks such as JUnit, TestNG, Cucumber, or similar tools. Knowledge of functional, regression, integration, and performance testing methodologies. Familiarity with CI/CD tooling and modern software development practices. Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, or containerized environments is an advantage. Knowledge of Kafka, ActiveMQ, or other messaging technologies is a plus. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Effective communication and teamwork skills. Ability to manage priorities and work effectively in an Agile environment. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one.
