Lead Platform Engineer Do you love building and pioneering in the technology space? As a Lead Platform Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One. What You’ll Do: Provide prompt and effective technical support to users, troubleshooting issues and answering questions Monitor system performance, security, and data integrity, taking proactive measures to address potential problems Stay up-to-date with the latest Google Workspace features and best practices, implementing updates and improvements as needed Develop and maintain clear documentation and training materials for users Focus on building and maintaining the underlying operational aspects of the platform including remediating vulnerabilities Monitor platform support Slack channels and address customer questions and issues Work closely with the Architecture team to align the platforms to latest architecture and configuration Encourage innovation, automation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity to a legacy process Develop, and utilize best practices to enhance the overall user experience of the platform Collaborate with the Software Engineers to ensure software works seamlessly on the platforms Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios Continuously improve platform engineering practices and proactively identify risks and execute strategies that eliminate or mitigate those risks Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization and diversity Directly and indirectly lead a teams of engineers and people leaders to build strategy for each platform and drive being Well Managed, the core goal at Capital One Utilize scripting languages like Python, Bash, and others. Container Orchestration services including Docker and ECS, CM tools including Ansible and Terraform, and a variety of AWS tools and services . If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
