SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work. NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military. Qualifications You Must Have: Currently serving as ACTIVE DUTY military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program Bachelor's of Science degree in a related field of study Typically, 8+ years of progressive technical experience Knowledge of engineering principles and practice Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team Basic understanding of requirements management, system design, integration Qualifications We Prefer: Typically 2-4 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedure Professional Certification in Program Management International (PMI) and/or Program Management Professional (PMP Experience or certification in INCOSE standard Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
