We are seeking a technically strong and innovation-driven Controls Engineer responsible for supporting the development, integration, validation, and execution of control solutions for mechatronic products and systems. This role focuses on turning controls architecture and product requirements into robust, manufacturable, and validated solutions. The Mechatronics Controls Engineer, Senior will work closely with electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, product management, supply chain, and validation teams to implement controls designs, develop PLC logic, support troubleshooting, and drive product maturity through testing and deployment. The position builds on Flowserve’s existing emphasis on integrated controls, intelligent diagnostics, and cross-functional product development. Key Responsibilities • Requirements Support - Translate product and system needs into clear controls requirements and technical solutions. • Controls System Development - Develop controls architecture for mechatronic systems, including remote monitoring, connectivity, and intelligent diagnostics. • Complete platform and device selection to meet product requirements, including modularity, scalability, and system performance • System Integration – Execute integration of electrical, mechanical, and controls components to ensure system functionality and performance. • PLC Programming - Create, edit, and maintain control programs using PLC tools such as ABB Automation Builder, Allen-Bradley, CODESYS, Unitronics, and related platforms. • Validation and Testing – Perform validation planning, system testing, and troubleshooting to verify product performance and reliability. • Diagnostics and Innovation - Improve controls functionality and enhance integration between mechanical components and intelligent control features, especially diagnostics. • Cross-functional Collaboration - Work with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, product management, project management, and suppliers to meet technical, timing, and customer requirements. • Technical Documentation - Contribute to design requirements, development documentation, validation records, and technical reviews. • Provide subject matter expertise in controls implementation and be able to work independently on assigned technical efforts. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline. • Experience in Control Systems, Mechatronic Product Development, Industrial Power and Control Panels, or related industrial technologies. • Demonstrated success developing new products, technologies, or engineered solutions from concept through prototyping, testing, and validation. • Strong capability in PLC programming and controls logic development • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams. • Ability to work independently, lead technical efforts, and contribute as a subject matter expert within a team-oriented environment. • Travel domestically and internationally up to 20% as needed. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with CODESYS and fieldbus • Experience with industrial devices such as VFDs, Motion Controllers, Sensors, I/O. • Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, Profinet, and Ethernet. • Experience with industrial panel or system validation in a product development environment. • Exposure to mechatronics, connected products, or intelligent diagnostics solutions.
