Our Space team in East Aurora, NY is looking for an Supplier Development Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) you will be a key member of Moog’s Space Propulsion Supply Chain team, reporting to the Strategic Sourcing Manager. In this supplier-development role you will act as the technical bridge between Moog’s internal teams and our supplier base. You will collaborate with Operations, Program Management, Supplier Quality, Design, and Product Engineering to ensure suppliers have the capabilities, capacity, and process controls required for next‑generation space propulsion programs. Your combination of manufacturing and machining knowledge, strong interpersonal skills, and continuous‑improvement orientation will directly influence supplier selection, operational readiness, and long‑term supply resilience — turning vendors into trusted, long‑term partners. To be considered for this Supplier Development Engineer role, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or related technical field and 5+ years relevant experience; OR Associate’s degree with 9+ years relevant experience. Strong analytical ability in manufacturing process optimization, process control, and supplier quality systems. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 25%). It would be great if you also had: Hands‑on machining or manufacturing experience Direct supplier-facing experience NX systems/programming experience Complex manufacturing experience Project management Leadership Negotiation Black/Green Belt and/or Lean/Six Sigma certification As our Supplier Development Engineer, you will make critical contributions by holding responsibility for: Supplier Qualification & Pre-Onboarding: Assess supplier capacity, capabilities, technical health, and readiness to support sourcing decisions. Supplier Management & Documentation: Maintain sub‑tier supplier maps, supplier visit reports, and supplier health records to support risk monitoring and trend analysis. Technical Liaison & Communication: Build and maintain strong, transparent relationships that align suppliers with Moog’s technical and business objectives. Serve as the primary engineering contact for supplier technical inquiries, change requests, and escalation management. Continuous Improvement: Drive lean manufacturing practices, yield improvements, process controls, and waste elimination at supplier locations. New Product Introduction (NPI): Ensure suppliers are production‑ready for new product launches and ramp activities; support qualification and handoff. Design for Manufacturability (DFM): Partner with design and engineering teams to improve manufacturability and reduce cost and risk. Leadership & Collaboration: Provide technical leadership when interfacing with cross‑functional teams and represent Moog at supplier sites and review boards.
