What does a successful Senior Software Engineer do at Clover? As a Senior Software Engineer at Clover (a Fiserv company), you will build and scale digital products tailored specifically for the restaurant vertical. You will drive full-stack development to help restaurant owners and staff manage daily operations while delivering seamless, dependable experiences for diners. In this role, you will take ownership of complex, evolving projects end-to-end, mentor fellow engineers, and shape resilient technical solutions that power millions of interactions. What you will do: Lead the design, development, and implementation of high-performing software applications that align with Clover's strategic goals. Collaborate with cross-functional partners to translate business requirements into clear, scalable technical specifications. Write, test, and debug code across the stack to ensure system reliability and optimal performance. Continuously improve existing codebases and lead peer-review processes to maintain technical quality. Coach junior developers, sharing technical expertise to help grow the overall team's capabilities. What you will need to have: 6+ years of software development experience (or equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or military service). 5+ years of web development experience, including 4+ years of front-end development with React and Next.js. 3+ years of back-end development experience using Java, C#, or similar programming languages. 3+ years of experience working with SQL databases. 3+ years of experience with cloud platform services (AWS or GCP). 3+ years of experience with CI/CD pipelines and Agile methodologies. Hands-on experience developing applications with TypeScript and the ability to work comfortably across frontend and backend technology stacks. Proven ability to lead projects end-to-end when scope is ambiguous or continuously evolving. What would be great to have: Direct experience in the hospitality or restaurant industry. Extended hands-on expertise with advanced CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices. You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered for this role. That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
