Bring your energy to Aggreko as Senior Electrical Engineer based in Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth. You’ll provide specialist electrical engineering expertise across Aggreko's IPP Solutions portfolio, supporting the development, design, delivery, commissioning, and operation of power generation assets (thermal generation, Battery Energy Storage Systems, solar PV, hybrid energy systems, substations, and associated electrical infrastructure). The role is focused on technical delivery — preparing and reviewing detailed designs, calculations, specifications and supporting on-site implementation — and provides high‑quality technical input to the Team Lead Electrical for assurance and governance. What you’ll do as Senior Electrical Engineer: Deliver robust, complaint, and constructible electrical engineering solutions for assigned projects. Effectively identify and manage electrical engineering risks within assigned scope. Successful support projects through development, delivery, commissioning, and operation. Provide high-quality electrical engineering assurance and design reviews suitable for assurance by the Team Lead. Improve asset reliability, availability, and operational performance for supported assets. Compliance with grid connection and regulatory requirements. Positive collaboration across project, operational, and commercial teams. Consistent application of engineering standards and industry best practices. Participate in technical tender evaluations, technical clarifications, supplier assessments, and contractor engagement activities. Hold technical responsibility across HV, MV and LV systems, substations and switchyards, protection and control systems, SCADA and plant control systems across thermal generation, BESS, Solar PV and Hybrid energy systems as well as grid connecting infrastructure and associated systems Provide technical mentorship and coaching to junior engineers and contractors, building a collaborative and high-performing engineering culture. You are / have: A relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering. Ideally a minimum of 8-12 years' experience in electrical engineering for large-scale infrastructure, power generation, transmission, or renewable energy assets. Strong experience across renewable and/or thermal generation projects within an IPP, EPC, utility, owner's engineer, or developer environment. Proven track record providing specialist technical input and delivering detailed designs under the guidance of a Team Lead. Experience with grid connection processes and power system studies. Strong understanding of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems. In-depth knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, network requirements, and power industry practices Advanced electrical engineering design and review capability. Practical understanding of electrical asset reliability and lifecycle considerations with a focus on implementation within projects. Commercially aware and risk-based engineering judgement. Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
