The Opportunity Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of opportunities, we are seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Associate Engineer - Dams to join our team in Melbourne or Hobart. This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, client engagement and team mentoring across a diverse portfolio of dams, hydropower and water infrastructure projects. You will work closely with our specialists while contributing to the successful delivery of some of the region's most significant infrastructure projects. Key Responsibilities Lead and review dam engineering design and analysis activities. Ensure project deliverables meet client expectations, technical standards and SMEC quality requirements. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex project outcomes. Support project delivery through effective planning, coordination and stakeholder engagement. Contribute to client relationship management and project development opportunities. Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and emerging professionals. Provide technical leadership across dam and hydropower projects. About You You are a technically strong dams professional with a collaborative approach and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions. You will bring: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline. 10+ years' experience in dam engineering. Experience across embankment, CFRD and concrete dam projects. Demonstrated experience delivering complex dams, hydropower, water or major infrastructure projects. Strong understanding of project delivery, coordination, risk management and client engagement. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams across the project lifecycle. Commercial awareness and an understanding of project budgets, schedules and delivery outcomes. Experience undertaking or supporting dam safety and risk assessments will be highly regarded. Sound knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and industry guidelines. Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to project teams. Excellent communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building skills. Why Join SMEC?
