Hotel Engineer Supervisor $25-27/hr POSITION PROFILE The Engineering Supervisor oversees the hotel’s daily maintenance and engineering operations. This position supervises engineering staff, coordinates work orders, performs and oversees preventive and corrective maintenance, and ensures hotel facilities and equipment are safe, functional, and well maintained. The Engineering Supervisor works with other departments to promptly address maintenance needs, support guest satisfaction, and maintain compliance with safety standards ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES Assist the Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer in the supervision of the Engineering staff; interview, recommend hiring, train, schedule, prepare payroll, coach and counsel, make recommendations to performance evaluations and discipline as needed. Assign work orders to staff; monitor progress and results. Monitor, control and report on the energy conservation programs. Responsible for all life/safety systems including fire, elevators, disasters and emergency lighting and generating systems. Maintain all motors and control circuits. Arrange for proper trash removal and recycling. Purchase equipment and supplies. Maintain pars. Maintain audio systems within the hotel. Perform the duties of a Class II or III Engineer as needed. Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned. Participate in hotel committees and task force assignments REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES One to two years of post-high school education; one or two-year certificate program in building maintenance, technology or related field. Minimum of five years of building maintenance experience in a leadership role or a related management position. Positive attitude and willingness to learn Flexible Schedule - able to work days, evenings and weekends PHYSICAL DEMANDS Lift/Push/Pull/Carry - up to 50 -75 plus lbs. supplies, equipment and machinery. Bending - required to perform inspections and repairs frequently throughout shift. Kneeling- required to perform inspections and repairs frequently throughout shift. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
