Job Description Who We Are Avnet's team of Field Application Engineers (FAEs) and Technical Sales Engineers (TSEs) help startups and established OEM companies adopt the latest technologies required to differentiate their products, get to market quick, and disrupt industries. In partnership with our suppliers, we are enabling customers to develop products that will change the world - from autonomous vehicles to consumer drones and more. We do Demand Creation for our suppliers by advocating their new products to our OEM design engineer customers. What You Will Do You will develop and grow our supplier’s business by engaging with emerging startups and established key OEM customers to do Demand Creation for the suppliers on our line card. You will work to understand how our customer's end products can be differentiated by leveraging the unique value of our supplier’s new products. This FAE role requires MCU and/or MPU experience and knowledge. This specific role will be responsible for promoting and supporting MCU’s and MPU’s from our suppliers. You will be educated on the features and benefits of our suppliers’ products and then be expected to advocate those products to our OEM customers to win design sockets. Responsibilities Qualify new opportunities through a combination of research and customer interactions Understand the customer’s business model, cost constraints, design goals, and decision criteria Develop win strategies that leverage unique supplier MCU/MPU technology to differentiate the customers' end product Determine the competitive landscape and how to position our supplier’s solutions effectively Present solutions that align customer requirements with our supplier’s industry leading devices, tools, IP, and partner ecosystem Collaborate with Avnet technical and sales teams to maximize Avnet's impact with the customer Track and report metrics that measure and improve demand creation metrics Develop, maintain, and grow Avnet's relationship as technology partner with both customers and suppliers Job Qualifications Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Experience HW Design experience Understanding of system block diagrams for target verticals, including MCU/MPU/CPU, memory, power, timing, sensors, protection, communication and other IC devices. Desire to do technical sales in a customer facing role Some familiarity with embedded systems and/or datacenter architectures Understanding of the hardware and software development process Familiar with startup lifecycle from raising funds to product launch Strong leadership, organization, time management, and business strategic planning skills Excellent communication skills (listening, verbal, written) and experience delivering technical presentations with proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel Self-motivated and drive to attain demand creation goals and quotas Work Experience: Typically 5+ years with BSEE or equivalent. Education and Certification(s): BSEE degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained. Distinguishing Characteristics: Position requires the ability to regularly travel to customers within Northern California and N. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
