Green Card Handler (Foreign Claims) Job Description Hellas Direct is a dynamic and innovative insurtech company dedicated to redefining insurance and making customers' lives better by providing personalized and affordable solutions. We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and experienced Green Card Claims Handler / External Claims Specialist to join our growing team in Romania. Interested in changing insurance with us? What you will be doing In this role, you will be managing end-to-end foreign claims (Green Card system / Cross-border accidents), handling and settling communication with international bodies, correspondents, and policyholders, while ensuring compliance with national and international insurance regulations. You will work in a modern, agile, and bureaucratic-free environment where your ideas actually matter. Key Responsibilities • Claim Assessment & Handling: Review, register, and evaluate cross-border motor claims (Green Card & 4th EU Directive) for both material damage and bodily injury. • Coverage & Liability Assessment: Analyze accident circumstances, verify insurance coverage, determine liability according to international road traffic regulations, and review foreign police reports/documents. • Damage Evaluation: Assess physical damages, vehicle repair estimates, and personal injury claims in compliance with local and international legal frameworks. • Stakeholder Coordination: Communicate effectively with foreign correspondents, national Bureaux (BAAR, foreign Green Card Bureaux), loss adjusters, lawyers, and policyholders. • Negotiation & Settlement: Negotiate fair settlements with third parties, claimants, and foreign insurers while controlling claim costs and avoiding unnecessary litigation. • International Communication: Liaise with foreign correspondents, international Insurance Bureaus, foreign insurance companies, and repair shops to gather facts and negotiate settlements. • Customer & Partner Support: Communicate clearly with policyholders, claimants, and legal representatives to gather incident details, collect required documentation, and provide status updates. • Settlement & Liability Determination: Analyze accident reports, establish liability under applicable international and local laws, negotiate fair settlements, and process payouts. • System & Compliance Management: Maintain accurate digital claim files in our insurtech platforms, monitor pending files, and ensure compliance with Council of Bureaux (CoBx) rules and local Romanian regulatory standards (ASF). • Continuous Improvement: Suggest process enhancements to optimize foreign claim workflows and participate in team knowledge-sharing sessions. What we are looking for • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with in-depth understanding of the Green Card System, the 4th EU Directive, Council of Bureaux rules, and national motor insurance legislation (RCA). • Two to three years of experience in handling Motor Claims, specifically within the Green Card system / Foreign Claims / Cross‑Border accidents or international bodily injury/property damage claims within an insurance company or loss adjusting firm. • Fluency in Romanian and English is required (both written and spoken). Knowledge of an additional European language is a strong plus. • Sound understanding of the Council of Bureaux rules, the 4th/5th EU Motor Insurance Directives, and local insurance regulations. • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Strong problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail when reviewing legal/technical documentation. • Proficiency in modern claims management software and digital tools.
