What You'll Do As a Solutions Design Engineer, you will help clients solve complex warehouse and order fulfillment challenges through automation, robotics, software, and material handling systems. Working closely with Sales, Business Development, Deployment Engineering, and Project Delivery teams, you will design scalable solutions that improve throughput, storage density, labor efficiency, and operational performance across distribution and fulfillment operations. Partner with Sales and Business Development teams to evaluate opportunities and develop solution strategies. Lead client discovery activities, including site visits, operational assessments, workshops, and requirements gathering sessions. Analyze warehouse and fulfillment data to identify automation opportunities and operational improvements. Design end-to-end solutions incorporating robotics, storage systems, conveyors, sortation equipment, software, and other material handling technologies. Develop system layouts, technical concepts, and solution proposals aligned with client business objectives. Create and deliver customer presentations that clearly communicate both technical solutions and operational value. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate, refine, and deliver innovative warehouse automation solutions. Support projects throughout the sales cycle, from qualification and solution development through contract award and project handover. Prepare technical documentation and handover packages to support successful project execution. Stay informed on emerging technologies, market trends, and best practices across warehouse automation, intralogistics, material handling, and order fulfillment operations. Experience working with distribution centers, fulfillment centers, warehouse operations, or material handling systems. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related technical field. Experience creating technical concepts, facility layouts, or solution designs using AutoCAD or similar tools. Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and commercial teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and deliver high-quality work within deadlines. Willingness to travel up to 20% to support customer engagements and site visits. Nice to have: Ability to analyze operational data and translate customer requirements into practical, scalable technical solutions using SQL, Python, and/or AI tools. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
