Whether you're purchasing a mobile phone, a new jacket, a flight ticket, a comfy couch, or even covering school tuition, mylo enables you to buy now and pay later at thousands of points of sale across Egypt. All mylo products are fully Sharia-compliant, ensuring ethical and inclusive financial practices. Responsibilities Lead, grow, and coach a team of full stack engineers, staying hands-on with architecture, code, and technical decisions rather than managing from a distance. Work closely with the Engineering team and Product Managers to define relevant features and requirements, and translate these into actionable technical roadmaps for the product development and delivery team. Own the technical health of the team's systems architecture quality, scalability, performance, and reliability of our Node.js and React applications. Prioritize features and ensure the team's effort stays aligned with mylo's overall technological strategy. Partner closely with other Tech Leaders (CTO, CPO) to shape the broader engineering direction. Drive the team's engineering practices in test-driven development, continuous integration, and automated deployment. Actively coach the team to solve complex problems, unblock them, and raise the technical bar through code reviews, pairing, and mentorship. Make informed build-vs-buy calls on tooling and third-party services, balancing speed, cost, and long-term maintainability. Champion clean, well-documented, secure APIs that other teams and services can depend on. Contribute to a safe, collaborative, growth-focused, purposeful, values-driven, and diverse team culture across the organization. Requirements 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript , Node.js , and React . At least 3+ years in a people leadership or technical lead role, managing or mentoring engineers. Proven track record of shipping and scaling full stack web applications end-to-end from API design and data modeling to frontend architecture and delivery. Deep knowledge of microservices systems and DDD, with the judgment to apply them pragmatically. Strong experience designing and operating RESTful APIs and service-oriented/microservice architectures. Solid understanding of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, or similar). Experience embedding test-driven development, CI/CD, and automated deployment practices into a team's day-to-day workflow. Comfortable evaluating technology choices and making build-vs-buy calls with a clear view of trade-offs. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) is a strong plus. Experience in fintech, e-commerce, or BNPL/lending platforms is a big plus. Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field — or equivalent practical experience.

That number is real. WorkMundi's database shows 144,883 open engineer roles across the world. India has the most with 31,687 jobs, followed by the United States with 30,084. If you just finished reading one job ad and felt paralyzed by choice, you're not alone—but this scale is actually an advantage. It means you can afford to be selective.
Start by geography and language. The majority of engineer ads—117,837 of them—have the job posting text written in English. Use that as one filter, but remember: the ad text language tells you nothing about whether the role actually requires you to speak English day-to-day. Read the job description carefully. Then check which countries have the volume you're targeting. Singapore, Poland, and Australia round out the top five after India and the US.
Next, learn who's hiring. Accenture has posted 2,801 engineer roles. andurilindustries, speechify, and jobgether are also actively recruiting. If you're applying to one of these names, research their hiring patterns and interview style before you apply. That homework pays off.
When you interview, expect the question every engineer hears: 'Tell me about a time you had to debug a problem that wasn't in your job description.' Have a specific story ready—not a general one. Name the tools, the deadline pressure, and what you learned. Hiring managers listen for whether you see problem-solving as part of the role itself, not a favour.
